This training course aims to give trainees the knowledge, understanding and basic skills required for the safe operation of articulated telescopic loaders fitted with fork arms. It introduces trainees to manoeuvring the machine using articulated steering, travelling both laden and unladen, and carrying out lifting, placing and transporting operations safely and efficiently in a range of workplace environments. Trainees will cover daily pre-use inspections, refuelling procedures, safe load handling techniques, and the hazards and risks associated with articulated telescopic loader operations, including stability, articulation awareness, load charts, visibility, ground conditions, and working in proximity to people, plant, and structures. The course also includes safe systems of work and compliance with relevant health and safety legislation. The length of training may vary depending on the objectives covered, the ratio of trainee to instructor, and the ability and previous experience of the trainees. The delivery of training includes a combination of theoretical instruction and practical exercises.
